A note to the men my daughters marry.

Dear Lucky Man,

You have intentions to marry my daughter. You must realize she is her daddy’s everything. He has sacrificed for her, bled for her, and spent her entire existence preparing her to be a productive member of society.

Can you work like a dog? You must realize she has watched her daddy work long, hard days to put a roof over her head and food in her stomach. She has seen him go to work in pain, half asleep, and half alive. He never has excuses to miss work. She will expect you to be able to do the same.

Are you faithful? You must realize she has watched him stand by me faithfully for years. He stood by me no matter what we faced. He stood by me even when I was unlovable. She will expect you to be able to do the same.

Are you a gentleman? You must realize she has watched him open my doors, pull out my chair, and always consider me before himself. She will expect you to do the same.

Do you have integrity? You must realize she has watched her daddy be honest even in times he could have kept silent and made a huge gain. He always does what he feels is fair. She will expect you to do the same.

Are you direct? You must realize she has watched him always speak what was on his heart and mind. He does not mince words. She will expect you to do the same.

Are you a gun owner? You must realize her Daddy is. So I have no doubt you realize how important it is you are able to live up to her daddy. She will expect you to be able too.
