Flash graduated to a feeder on the fence! The minis eat in a trough nearby, but she is finally accepted into the herd enough that the six minis don’t run her off from her grain now!
We did a short lesson today. We skipped grooming because everyone had frost on thier backs and I didn’t want to rub it in. So after Flash ate her breakfast we did some more desensitization work with a crinkly wrapper. She was still unsure when we got to the point of her shoulder. We did this half a dozen times or so and then I just stood in the pasture and scratched her ears and we talked.
It was a whopping 24°F today and the kind of cold that settles in your bones, so Flash and I worked about 15 minutes. Soon she was off running and stretching her legs. That girl has the prettiest stride I’ve seen in a long time, and I find myself wondering how it would feel under saddle. Even that’s a ways off it still fun to dream.
Until next time!
