A money in the bank personality living with a Hardworking Dreamer type

The fence in the picture you see above is a work in progress. My husband has wanted pipe fencing for nearly ten years on the HK Bar. He has saved his money, traded scrap, traded labor, and a whole list of other back breaking tasks in order to accomplish his goal. I’ll tell you I really do admire him on big projects like this. He makes it happen. While I am left biting my nails and wondering where the money will come from, he just figures it out! I am a creature not designed like him. I am a what I call a “money in the bank” type and he is the “hardworking dreamer” .

A loose definition of those labels in my mind are as such. Money in the bank people save a gob of money and THEN and only then do they set out to do a big job. Hardworking Dreamers do just that, they dream up what they want and then they just do it! They work their butts off in the process but they make it happen .

I guess opposites do attract. 💕❤️

I love sunrises. There seems to be so much promise in them. All the cliche things people say about opportunity and new beginnings were being sung by my heart this morning as I fed horses under a rising sun.

Maybe the weather is playing a part in my mood. Although it is still cold, and a bit windy, there is a spring-like feel to it today. Even though we really have had a mild winter, it has sure seemed like a long one. Too many hours spent indoors when the only place I want to be is outdoors with Boo, Owl, and Bunny, spending time with our horses and dogs.

I have been taking advantage of my indoor incarceration time by planning for horseshows, training/excersize routines, financials, ways to cut cost with feed and any other way I can….. And Oh I hadn’t mentioned the biggest project I’ve been pouring over……my new horse barn to be built soon! (I say horse barn conservatively, like two 12×12 row stalls with a ta k and grainery in the middle ) I am so excited to finally have a plan taking shape. No more fighting over space in the current barn!

So maybe my good mood is the weather……maybe its the idea of a new (ultra conservative) horse barn!.

Sharing A Dream

Stock photo not my own

Here’s a confession for today. What’s my dream?

I want to be cat woman.

Yeah, really.

A Batman impersonator came to my daughters sixth birthday last weekend.

He was absolutely cool! He had the voice and everything. My daughter Boo was in complete awe of him. He told her to use her brain and study hard, and always try to help people.

He inspired me to begin my own journey. This Batman also goes to children’s hospital and benefits to raise money. What a cool thing!

As a nurse I know how much a visit from a special someone can make a person’s pain abate for a short time, it can lift spirits, and it can make all the difference for a person isolated by an illness.

So I’m going on my own journey to become Catwoman. But first my 180# has to get in shape and start building my own body. You can’t become the character if you can’t pull off the costume, and at this time, I couldnt! But that doesn’t mean I won’t be able to.

I love the fact that I could have fun and maybe make a difference in someone’s life.

So to kick off my journey I ran a mile ( it was actually more of a limping jog walk drag myself), i did 50 jumping jacks, 20 pushups (well, that’s what they were supposed to be), and 50 crunches. Yikes!

Until next time.

Capn Boo Revises my New Years Resolution List

I thought I would sit down today, reflect on the past year, and make a list of my 2015 new years resolutions. Capn Boo was sitting across from me at our kitchen table coloring, Owl was sitting beside her in her booster seat playing with play doh, and Bunny was next to me in her booster seat playing with blocks.

My list went something like this:
1.) Start my business
2.)Buy an easy entry miniature horse cart
3.) Organize my house
4.) Excersize more

That’s about as far as I’d gotten when Boo put her yellow crayon down and said,
“Mom, what’s your resolution thing say?”

I read them to her while she wildly laughed and rolled around in her chair in hysterics.

I said, “I’m glad you find my goals for the next year so funny.”

Capn Boo with her million dollar smile snickered and said,

“You need to get rid of that list! Its too starchy. Here throw that away and I’ll tell you what to write. ”

I decided to play along, throwing my paper in the trash. I knew I could fish it back out because it was a new bag and empty.

Ok, you ready Mom? (I nodded my bead trying not to laugh.) OK, #1. Spend more time with the horses.

I said, ” OK, what’s number two?”

Capn Boo laughed her laugh and said in all of her five year old wisdom,

“That’s all you need to write down. More time with your horses. It solves every problem, well almost, except the problem when you run out of chocolate milk. But then I guess in a way they could solve it cuz you could just ride your horse to the store and buy some more. Otherwise horses teach you to be happy, they teach you to be patient, and best of all they teach you to live how God would want us too.”

She promptly picked her crayon up and went right back  to coloring.

My Dear Sweet, Capn Boo, you are so right. I didn’t retrieve my first list out of the trash can. I left it there. Boo is so right. The only goal I’m making for 2015 is to spend more time with my horse, as they make me reach goals higher than what I would have set for myself.

I put my new list on the fridge.

1.) Spend more time with my horses.

And I did add a #2 without Boos direction…

2.) Listen more to my children.

From the HK Bar to the world Happy New Year and cheers to 2015!
